Worm and bedding kits are supplied to start a new wormery (please note all our wormeries sold on this website include a worm and bedding kit in the price) if you have purchased a new wormery elsewhere it may have been recommended that you make up your own bedding out of newspaper/cardboard etc, the problem with this method is that the worms will not settle easily into an environment that is alien to them, neither will this fresh "bedding" have any of the micro life so important to innoculate the food waste and make it available to worms, the result is the worms will probably migrate away looking for a better home!
The worm bedding we supply in our kits is actually made up from the recycled materials the worms have been born and bred in, it has all the micro life to innoculate the food waste, to a worm,it is home from home and they settle very quickly. Because the worms are already established in this bedding, there are no problems whilst in transit, they are protected from temperature changes and any knocks or shaking they may have experienced on route - no stressed worms!
All prices shown include worms, bedding and delivery by carrier or Standard Parcel. Deliveries by carrier on the mainland is usually next day, all carriers usually need a signature on delivery, if you should be out, it would be helpful if you could make arrangements with a neighbour.
Deliveries by Standard Parcel can take 3 - 4 days, this is used for more remote postcodes, islands and Northern Ireland.
