Strictly speaking this is a composting or litter worm but will do well in shallow soils, ideal under a lawn area where unlike Lumbricus terrestris, the big earthworm, it doesn?t throw up worm casts on the surface. It prefers soils with a lot of organic matter present, therefore the regular use of mulch or compost is recommended.
